From this screen you can re-order the search results, see more details about a selected title, or refine your search to return fewer or more results.
 
To sort search results
1. Click the Sort by drop down button and select an option from the list.
2. Click the A..Z or Z..A button to re-order the results in alphabetic or reverse alphabetic order.
Note: The Sort by options will not appear if the set returned is too large.

To find out more details about material of interest
1. For all types of material you can click on the title to display more details about the material and to see what copies or holdings are available.
2. For most material e.g. books  book,videos video and cassettes cassettes click on Show to see details of copy availability.
3. For journals and newspapers Journal or NewsPaper click on Show Library Holdings to see more information about the holdings.
4. If you have used the Advanced search screen to search module resource lists then clicking on Show will display details of the material on the resource list.
5. Click the links to see more details regarding electronic resources.

To reduce the number of search results
Repeat the search with one of the following suggestions:
  • Add more information about the author or title.
  • Apply additional limiters to the search e.g. search Catalogue of specific collections from the standard search screen. Advanced searching also offers language, format, date and opus number limiters).

To increase the number of search results
1. Repeat the search with one of following suggestions:
  • Remove some of the search terms.
  • Don't apply any limiters.
  • Try a keyword search rather than a title search.
  • Try searching for just a keyword, or just the title, or just the author
2. Go to advanced search.
a. On the browse a list form set Choose a list to browse to an appropriate index.
b. Enter the search term.
c. Click the Search button.
The screen will display details of the index which match your search on the left hand side and details of the material associated with the highlighted index entry on the right.
Click on other entries in the list to see details of the material associated with these entries.

Search results look irrelevant
Try one of the following suggestions:
  • Use Next and Previous to browse through the results.
  • Click on the title to view full details of the item.
  • Repeating the search adding some further limiters. e.g. search Catalogue of specific collections from the standard search screen. Advanced searching also offers language, format and Opus number limiters.)
References can look irrelevant if index entries are created from different parts of the record. For example entries in the author index can be created for a writer where s/he is the subject rather than the author of the book.

To browse an index (following a Browse a list search on the advanced search screen)
1. In the index panel on the left of the screen click Next icon to see the next set of entries in the index.
The left hand panel will display the next set of index entries.
The right hand panel will show the material associated with the highlighted index entry.
Use Previous to see the previous set of index entries.

To view the records for an index entry (following a Browse a list search on the advanced search screen)
1. Click the index entry you are interested in.
The right hand panel will display the items associated with your selected entry.
If there lots of items associated with the index entry you can see details of items further down the list by clicking on Next on the right hand side of the screen.

To request a title
1. Click the request icon next to the right of the title you require
If you are not logged in the screen will ask you to enter your barcode.
The screen will offer you a choice of requests.
2. Choose which type of request you wish to place.
3. Click the Place Request button.
The screen will guide you through the process of placing the request of your choice.

What does Reserves mean in the copies information?
The number under the Reserves heading indicates how many reservations there are outstanding for the item.
If you choose to request the item then it will take longer for you to get a copy the more reservations there are.

What do the dates under Availability mean?
The dates are the due dates of the items. This tells you when the item(s) should be back in the library.
You can request an item using the request icon if all the copies are on loan.
